For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Here, in this passage, Paul sums up the gospel that he preached in the face of insurmountable odds and extreme opposition. It is a gospel that is so radical and so extreme that it called down unbelievable persecution upon his head everywhere he went. This persecution was not only dished out by the heathen but more so by the religious folks, namely the Jewish nation.
